DR. ARCOT DESAI NARASIMHALU

Beginning July 1, 2016 Desai has been offering innovation and entrepreneurship consultancy and training through his company Simha Innovations (www.simhainnovations.com).

Desai has over forty two years of experience spanning innovation design, development and commercialization, strategic planning, competitive intelligence, management of innovation, intellectual property management, business development, technology transfer and licensing, new business creation, capability re-engineering and corporate communications.

Desai has created, managed and directed groups that developed and commercialized technologies in the fields of multimedia, databases, image processing and management, Text and Multimedia Information Retrieval, Information Security, Biometrics, Pervasive and Ubiquitous computing and Expert Systems.

Desai has built alliances with companies such as Apple, Computer Associates, Fujitsu, HP, Siemens and research labs such as Apple’s ATG, Holland’s TNO, Germany’s FranHoffer, France’s INRIA and IMAG, and Japan’s Real World Computing Partnership. He has served on the editorial boards of several International journals and has been the conference and program chairperson for several international conferences related to information technology.

Desai was one of the five member committee from Kent Ridge Digital Labs in Singapore that helped create twenty new companies from 1999 to 2002 which went on to attract seed and series A investment of US$ 70 million from the international venture and corporate community. He joined Singapore Management University in April 2003.

Desai is a Fellow of Singapore Computer Society and the International Society for Professional Innovation Management.
